Tear Down the Walls this Earth Day to May Day

When Cheri Honkala, of the Poor People's Economic Human Rights Campaign, spoke at the Tear Down the Walls National Gathering this past November, she asked the participants to get involved with the Global Climate Convergence as one of the Tear Down the Walls national days of local action. It was accepted and following up, AFGJ would like to encourage people and organizations to add their weight to this important global effort.

Since launching the project barely two months ago, over 600 activists have signed up to volunteer and organize in over 40 cities. Be sure to add your events to the Convergence calendar so others in your community can join in!

Earth Day to May Day (ED2MD) actions can be as simple as inviting people to gather in a central area, like a park, with signs and banners displaying the "People, Planet and Peace Over Profit" slogan, and taking photos and videos to post to social media.

Whatever level of Convergence your community is at, ED2MD is an opportunity to take the next step to power up for People, Planet and Peace.

CALENDAR! If you are planning an ED2MD event, let others in your area know about it by listing your event or action on our website's calendar. (Instructions are on the calendar.) Be sure to add your city’s name under “Tags” so others can find it!

If you are not planning an event but want to participate in one, find events in your area by checking the “Tags” tab on the calendar. If you don't see your city on the list, sign up to organize today and we'll work with you to make sure your community is part of the ED2MD wave of action!

Please share the event on your personal Facebook page and invite everyone you know. Also, share the event page on Twitter and other social networking sites to let people know why you're standing up for People, Planet and Peace!
